in-between spaces

neglected
deemed ordinary
unmagical
yet so rich
can neither be empty
nor full
but somewhere in-between
move away from either/or
towards and/with

sometimes, it is dust
other times, a sweet fragnance
or a vibration
energy pulsating
different faces
yet sameness
in-between spaces

as your elbow touches mine
on an aeroplane
the feel of your shirt
how strange
the pause
between the words
the moment it takes
your smile
to reach your eyes
and the curve of your lips
from one end to another

the long hours
between seconds
the staleness
of ordinary things
when my nose touches yours
as you sleep
your eyes that look
almost the same as mine
the hiccups between your laughter

48 hours
a gap too long
time passes quickly
when hunger isn’t
food tastes extra
ordinary is not a feeling
as the ants march
in solidarity and
giving each other some
breathing space
i check

remove the crease
as the petals
brush against each other
red
the colour of your lips
the moth flutters
rests on the window
the wind gently
passing
from one end of its wing
to another

your question sounds ordinary
my answer
a pause between a pause
my heart races against
my soul
as the words tumble
i, then, lose language
trying to come up with an answer

my eyes rest on the space
between your knuckles
my soul is resting in the sea
you are no-self now
so i
let the words out first
a greeting
matched with a nod

the letterbox was empty
now, it is not
between dawn and dusk
a letter you leave
or an email
different faces
sameness
in-between spaces

have i lost my mind?
in between the folds
of your soul
or mine
after all
i am not human
when you are not here
the space in-between
tells me
to let it be and
to be
no-self

a union of ordinary and magical
