the milk in the fridge is stale
father can’t have tea
mother tells me, it’s my duty to replace
i whisper to you, ‘tis yours
you pass it on to her
father isn’t happy
mother isn’t happy
i’m not happy
you aren’t happy
she isn’t happy
the milk curdles
we all curdle
nobody takes responsibility
the tyre is punctured
father can’t go to work
mother tells me to change it
i shout at you to do it
you pass it on to her
father is angry
mother is angry
i am angry
you are angry
she is angry
the tyre has no air left
we have no air left
nobody takes responsibility
the neighbour is mowing his lawns
father can’t watch the news
mother doesn’t care anymore
i say i am leaving the house
you say you are staying behind
she was never there
father vomits his anger
onto his left palm
passes it on to his right palm and
passes it on to the mother
she passes it on to me
now i cannot leave
the vomit burns me up
so,
i vomit
i burn
let’s shut my eyes
and open them again
now
there is no tv
there is no father
there is no mother
there is no you
there is no her
there is only god
god is father
god is mother
god is you
god is her
i am none
i am all
i replace the milk
fix the tyre
so,
the milk no longer curdles
and,
the tyre has air
and,
i,we,
all take responsibility
